Young Artist Search

Within the next few weeks The Society for the Preservation of the Great American Songbook will begin its search for SPGAS's fifth "Young Artist." Every year a student demonstrating musical talent with an emphasis on the works of "The Great American Songbook," a strong work ethic and community involvement is given a grant and receives the SPGAS "Young Artist Award."

This is a unique and enriching opportunity for the student who receives regular voice and Songbook history and instruction, recording experience in a professional studio, performances on stage with some of the genre's greats such as Deana Martin, Jack Jones and Ann Hampton Callaway, and an opportunity to have their recordings played on local syndicated radio. Previous winners have gone on to perform at Carnegie Hall, The Kravis Center and The Eissey Theater.

Contact Ellen Huxley-Laffer at 561-469-6703 or 954-854-7046 if you know a young performer between the ages of 11 and 18 who performs the music of "The Great American Songbook" to request an application for our 2018 search. All applications must be received by SPGAS by 15 May 2017.
